The space office on Tuesday opened enrollment for another opposition went for building up "the abilities of humanoid robots to help space travelers on the trip to Mars." Teams contending in the Space Robots Challenge must program a virtual robot, displayed after NASA's Robonaut 5 (R5), to finish a progression of complex assignments in a reenacted Mars environment. Victors will bring home $1 million.
The opposition will be held in a virtual situation, and every group's R5 will be tested to determine the consequence of a clean tempest that has harmed a Martian natural surroundings. Making things much harder, groups should beat "times of dormancy to speak to correspondences defer from Earth to Mars."
Sound fascinating? Enrollment starts today, and a qualifying round is slated to keep running from mid-September to mid-November. NASA will declare finalists in December and the last virtual rivalry will occur in June 2017. Champs will be reported toward the finish of that month.
